Poetry For Everyday People

Three Shots And Cold Guiness

Ticking down
a slow goodbye
a ripe apple
hanging on to a branch
sooner or later life
tries to shake you off,

and I tell life
whatta you gonna do
without me?  when I'm
not calling you out on
all your games?  go on,
life always says:  go on,

so I pierce blood thoughts
on paper, catch the subtleties
and wrap'em  like a present,
preserve experience in shots of
poems, shootin' up poems is what
heroin wants to be but can't,

lemon kisses to perk up your
souls, I've kept a place in my
heart for all the good winks,
all the thumbs up,
old souls smiling at us,
and happy hour has never been
for amateurs,

light fires, cigars, love, remind editors,
don't let the whiskey finish your thought,
let your thought finish the whiskey,

understand this if nothing else
the key to life
is that there is no key

it's open
life is open

your in

what you do now?
