Here I walk through the vacant, lonely streets
Of this town so gray;
Where opportunity does not exist
And there lies no hope of change
The town where lonely people of young and old
Hopelessly await a better tomorrow,
And parade the sidewalks aimlessly
In hopes of dispensing their sorrow
It is the place of my younger memories;
Memories of darkness and pain
The place of which I made a promise
To never return again,
But I must reside in this insolent place
With my many grievances in tow
Until I seek what I have not yet learned;
It is then that I'll be free to go.
