After Shock
To Kat...
tears touching the edges of the pillow
wash the face as the trembling begins,
the eyes burn in the thoughts of the spoken words,
rolling over the hollow in the bed
still exists unfilled in months,
fleeting words written and spoken
fail to fulfill the desires of the soul,
questions become a constant
like the inhalation of air,
prayers fill the mind
and flow to the lips
like honey off a summer honey comb,
in the circumstance as they stand
the life still most flow,
rise with the alarm, shower, and go to work,
pay the surmounting bills, clean the virgin house,
maintain the relationships that surround
in the existence of this parcel of the world,
when the moon rises to fill the partially clouded sky,
and silence falls on the empty spaces of the rooms,
when things are slowed and no one is near,
the memories perforate into the soul,
bring the cycle to an end,
with reprieve for a few hours of
dream filled slumber.
