Bondage
My ways are not right ---
My righteousness is but filthy
rags,
Yet this does not give me license
to sin,
I must strive to live right each
and every day ---
I must put on His armor of righteousness ---
Yet I don't want to be in bondage either!
I don't want to be excluded from everything,
excluded from everyone ---
I want to have a good time,
I want to enjoy life ---
I want to take part in some of the worldly
pursuits
as long as I don't hurt anyone,
which includes myself ---
As long as I remain on the right side
of the law,
I want to socialize just like everyone
else ---
And I want to accept the imperfections
of myself
and the world around me
with an open mind and an open heart
For all have sinned,
all have fallen short of glory
And that includes me!
Of course, I want to do the right thing ---
Each day, I want to strive towards
moral perfection,
I want to be holy as He is holy,
righteous as He is righteous ---
Yet I don't want to be my own worst
critic, either
for false humility is really self-righteousness ---
I want to be able to handle correction
without letting my protective ego
get in the way ---
Each day, I want to become humble
like a little child,
Searching for the truth,
learning the truth,
accepting it even if I don't like it,
sharing this truth with others
And above all, living according to the truth!
For this very truth will set us free!!!
