If I Wish To Know Peace On EarthIf I get the feeling I need to see Peacr upon this earth~ I walk down to my garden There it exists in all its worth~ I go out to a country stream And watch the fishes play~ Or I go down to the beach And sight the seagulls for a day~ I watch the clouds do what they do And look at the wonder of tall trees~ I gaze at the wildflowers to be seen And the grasses romance with the breeze~ If I wish to see tranquility I often sit upon the highest hill~ And memorize scenes to paint Untill I get my fill~ I listen to natures music So many symphonies to hear~ I think about my childhood days A good few memories so dear~ When I wish to fill my mind with peace on earth I usually have to go back in time~ To remember when I was but a boy By a creek with home made fishing line~ I look at the world I live in now And I have not got a clue~ Why people upon our beautiful earth Act the way and think the way they do~ Time must think we are such wasters So many never stop to think it seems~ That time wastes us as we waste so much time And time won't wait till we awake from dreams~ I look at things that happen now And I wonder what went wrong~ Why so many do the things they do Over what seems in time so long~ If I want to experience peace on earth I watch the silent flight of a bird~ And listen to the finches in my garden Or watch cattle grazing in a herd~ I check to see if a favourite rose Has progressed from a bud so small~ I sit out on my porch at night And listen to the night birds call~ I then awake to realise a world almost gone crazy When with less effort how nice this world could be~ If we could simply take a leaf from natures book And all it shows of how we could live so peacefully~ Terrence Michael Sutton Copyright 2007 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
