MY TIME IS UP

*MY TIME IS UP*

I lie here thinking of the past,
Knowing my time has come at last,
Reflecting back on my life
Of the good times and the strife.

Knowledge is gained all far too late
We`ve already sealed our own fate,
Did things that we just can`t undo,
Sometimes our chances we just blew.

Regrets are what I have come to know
And so my tears will gently flow,
I`m sorry for those that I have hurt
And there are a few, that`s a cert.

I should have grasped `chance` with both hands
And travelled more to foreign lands,
I should`ve gone North, South, East and West
And seen which one I liked the best.

Try everything once is my motto,
Alas! It`s too late for me I know,
Live each moment as if it`s your last
Then you`ll regret nothing of your past.

Live hard, love hard and even play hard,
Up your sleeve always keep the ace card,
I think I did all three pretty well,
I may have stumbled, but never fell.

Let no one ever put you down,
Try to wear a smile not a frown,
Life will be easier that way,
Take notice and hear what I say.

I didn`t do everything right,
Times I was blinded by the light,
I quite often made a mistake,
But my punishment I would take.

Would I live my life over again?
Yes, but I`d take out all the hurt and pain,
I`d see things so very differently,
I`d show a better side of me.

I`d like to thank my husband
He has been my bottomless fund
For happiness, fun and laughter,
Happy times together we did share.

My children I will love for ever,
A tie that even death cannot sever,
They gave me a reason to live
And my love to them I did give.

They say the world is a stage
And no matter what our age,
Try to live life to the full
Before it`s your turn for the cull.

I will miss the warmth of the sun,
The way we used to play and have fun,
The sound of laughter in my ears,
Which often filled my eyes with tears.

We are born to die and that`s a fact,
The part we play isn`t an act,
It`s our main role, we are the star,
Shine if you can, twinkle from afar.

Goodbye world and all that you hold,
I now prepare to lie stiff and cold,
I close my eyes for the last time,
I`m old now, no longer in my prime.
