Where friendships last longer,
the handshake's a little stronger,
where the deer and the antelope roam
nigh unto a sod shanty home,
white hatted good guys fight to the finish
and drink to the dregs
coralling horse thieves and rustlers
those black hatted yeggs!
Where the tumbleweed tumbles along
and the cowpunchers burst into song!
A poor, lonesome cowboy, through wind and hail,
drives them dogies along the trail!
Where the Cimmaron rolls on, the Red River too,
and a feller who loves his gal is forever true!
Where brave buckaroos die with their boots on,
while a yaller haired gal weeps, lovely as a fawn!
Where straight shooters go when they die
to that great cattle ranch in the sky,
they can ride the range forever there
and the Boss Man's always fair!
Way out West in Kansas!
