In The Shadows!
When it all gathers together
and pushes up close, hard and tight,
somehow the shadows surround you
and darken and empty the light.
You look at a frame with no colour
and search for a small focal place,
but the picture appears dull and hazy
and empty of meaningful space.
Gone are the times filled with reason,
control has vanished somewhere,
around is all nothing and hollow
with echoes that pierce without care.
The days all run into nothing
with a rhythm uneven with pain,
as the clouds shut out the sunshine
and only leave room for the rain.
