8 More Die Today by Sonja
On every news paper
it is displayed.
In Iraq, 8 more died today.
With 8 families gathered
on this soggy, spring eve
all are left speechless
with nothing much to say.
Their pain is too much to bear.
Families tears wash
the dust off
photo albums,
blurring visions of their
loved one now lost.
All silently wonder if Iraq
is worth their cost.
Grief invites the family
to feel proud of the one
they now love the most.
He died for them, he said.
One of eight, now dead.
