This was her night to shine
to walk the stage and close a chapter in her life.
She looks worldly, quite divine
future college student, worker, or maybe wife.
The roaring of the audience
a splendor as lights in the auditorium flash and glare.
The caps and gowns as ambience
all her loved ones have come to support and share.
So many thoughts to ponder
a lifetime to find who she finally wants to become.
Where will this road lead, I wonder?
The diploma and portrait on the wall equal the sum.
Still she has youth's strength
and she holds the dreams that belong to the young.
She won the race, traveled the length
and she will not be content till the last song is sung.
