Three steps forward
Maybe one step back
A little hop sideways
Avoids stepping on a crack
Dodging in and out
On my way up town
I see people smile
See many more frown
So many people seem
Troubled and weighed down
I see all emotions
As I prance around
I skip to the left
See people laugh
As I cross their line of sight
Dancing a foxtrot
A quickstep as well
Wearing my jester suit
With fool's cap and bell
I play the penny whistle
A jolly little air
To captivate the folk
All gathered there
And I lead them in a chain
Steps forward sideways and back
Up and down the paving
Without stepping on the cracks
Writhing and twisting
Proceeding up and down
Leading a merry conga
To the centre of the town
And I cease the penny whistle
Set the silence through the air
And I see their puzzled looks
Wondering what they are doing there
And I wave my jester's wand
Do a little jig of glee
Wave goodbye to my conga
As I set my dancers free
With three steps forward
Two sideways and one back
Spinning a web of happiness
By not stepping on the cracks
