She lies awake at night
Burning her thoughts to paper amid candlelight
Head in the clouds, feet in the air
She removes her mask with a pen and dances through fear
Painting her words from the images in her mind;
She releases them from the depths of her teary eyes.
The moon excels brightly from above
While she writes of things she can only dream of
And in her nights so calm and serene
She remembers the struggles life forced her to see;
The friends, the memories, and the hopes misplaced;
The absent dreams, and the fears she's faced
And when she shuts her eyes at daybreak
After an eve of an ongoing awake,
Her dreams are her rescue from the results of the day
And she'll take them with her when she leaves this place.
