Up On The Road
Well my love
if you could read my mind
if you could find a fine bullet
and shoot me blind
I would be the same
never altered, never changed
a photograph forever in time
a memory so strong
a ending just fine
up on the road
I will leave you a rose
you will know it's meant for you
kiss me one more time before I go
a memento that only you and me know
up on the road
beyond the fields of gold
you will find the sweetest letter
you and me
could not have known each other better
Could you play me out softly
just as you entered gently
I trust you explicable
beyond deception
before everlasting,
I found you my dear
it's been some work
but look at the outcome
after all these years
standing by always
no matter what I've done
up on the road
