As the sun goes down
I light my house:
living room, kitchen and porch,
a sort of ritual of the evening!
Once I did not light so many
but now these lights
dispel the loneliness
and the emptiness,
an echo of the contentedness
of former days
once safe and secure
beneath the roof of home.
