I stand now on a large stone
In quietude all alone,
Feel like tilting my head
And bearing my heart,
Screaming into the night,
My pain and outrage
At what you have done...
You promised me...
A romantic moon-landing trip
Now where is it...
Left me instead in a storm you fear
You've driven me...
Into a wild night of endless waits
Amid pulsating hearts you claimed
The lightning that flashes in the sky
The wind that howls at your back,
Scared the hell out of your spine
We'll never really make it to the moon
For you are weak and insensible
I'll dance with the stars instead
Alone and undisturbed...
And feel at home here in the forest,
Where you left me in the dark
On the eve of the last dark moon,
I sought solace in my forest,
Needing to escape your embrace,
Could not stand to see your face,
I fled to where's my journey's end…
In the shadows of a dark moon
I traveled and did not stumble,
For I knew this path so well,
I could traverse it in my sleep,
And here I sought my peace…
And in the shadows of the dark moon,
I grieve for what might have been
Daring myself to step even closer
To the edge of my world, not to fall
So when I stoop down...I see naught
But all I was taught to believe
Here in the shadows of the dark moon,
I leaped into that dark abyss,
Where I found my soul dancing free
Regaining my life and self-esteem
And for once...I felt released
It was not you that I missed…
