Timeless This Watch
A pocket watch older than I
Would tell of time and sad goodbyes
Each time opened, for just a glance
It would enchant us in a trance
Time it tell, of better days
Where romance danced and me it dazed
Of her I loved no longer here
Beloved wife once mine endeared
It would weather my sons adventure
Once loaned to him upon a venture
Where it would have it's first swim lesson
Inside a pool he failed to mention
Countless times, many brief moments
I too would drop, its greatest torment
Bouncing just once, upon the floor
Rolling along, stopping at door
It gave me time back then and now
Survived a flood and storm somehow
Yet still it tick's and tock's for one
Who soon would own, my great grandson
Timeless this piece of workmanship
Will have to part its partnership
With I who once saw better times
When young we were and it was mine
