Lilac colours the walls
And an austere desk sits to the centre while
A smell likened to fruity bleach
Wafts along the air
And I sit there
Solemn and silent.
Last respects to be paid
Wonderful in life
And deserving of the best interment.
The mantle clock ticks and counts intrepidly
As time cannot be halted
And soon,
We shall all lay the other side
Of the lilac coloured wall.
