across the fading parking lot
against the approach of rain
drifting and collecting in puddles
the images of days long ago visited and haunted
fall and drown covered in specks of mud,
walking between the slipping drops
maturity rumbled through in ages of gray,
in the disguise of a cumulonimbus cloud
the cumulus clouds filtered through
exhaustion wans along the edges of the body
the early post dawn sun gathers warmth
reflecting it into the crevices of the window
thoughts and memories collide into a single
channel filtering in the mind
handing control over to hands far greater
leaves weariness in strength of self
and reliance on the other hands
the day stands ready for the lengthy list
of things ahead
forcing the desire to with hold under the security
of the blanket like Linus
into a consumed shadow on the wall,
in the fresh cool left lingering along the
steam of rain touched asphalt,
the subtle touches of dusk collide with
remnants of a late summers afternoon,
in the wisps of a breeze it is known
that in that colorful fresh dusk
there is guidance and security in what is seen.
