Rocket Man
Preps himself for a long ride
Aboard a ship He'll sit inside
Not knowing what this journey brings
The final check, heavy breathing
Hearing the voice of ground control
All set, countdown it's time to go
Saying a prayer, 4 3 2 1
We have liftoff, complete now done
He soars into the sky glancing
From helmets shield and ship dancing
Speeding it's way to outer space
G forces stretch his Earthly face
Breaking the stratosphere with ease
Slingshot he says, lets get there please
The stars will greet him with their light
Across a sky darker than night
The Moon will pass and say hello
As if asking, your first trip fellow
He'll smile and think how did it know
Waving goodbye to moonlit glow
The Earth a sphere with colors cool
Reflects against a staring fool
Who like a kid is mesmerized
This rocket man more child inside
He drifts along wishing he could
Live in a place where all is good
No one to cramp his space and style
Thinking how great and stay awhile
Houston.... We have a problem
