You are a jerk
Who's poking literal holes
So I can look thoughtless,
And you can feel smart.
There is no kindness in your smile
When you ask the question.
Even when I clarify
My intent,
You look like a gleeful child with a stick
Poking at the slug on the ground
Watching it squirm and thinking,
“Cool.”
You've justified your intellectual
Prowess, and so your self
Esteem can go up a notch,
But's false,
It's just ego,
And you'll
Have to tear someone
Else down
For you to feel good.
Just because you SOUND
Right,
Doesn't mean you are.
Just because you
Goaded me into
Being upset,
Doesn't mean
I won't figure out
The why.
I'll only take
Me long enough
To write a poem,
To immortalize
Your intellectual
Ego trip.
Poking holes
In philosophy,
I'm sure that Socrates
Would agree
Should be done
With respect,
A custom,
Not a law.
