BROKEN HEARTED

You broke my heart
You stole my life
You didn't even care
Having given up so much for you
In order that we could share,
A life together in harmony
Deepest friendship was the route cause,
Then commitment stood there in between,
I trusted you, of course.

So foolish now
I see myself
Having waited patiently
With love on my sleeve
Some semblance of a life again
A trust in men to be retrieved.

Knowing I will never
Be so silly again
Could have made my heart a stone
But gratitude is what I'm offering,
For the sake of you, I've grown.
