Musings by The Poet Loriet

Englais or Espanol?

My caller i.d. es en Espanol,
but it is only a partial change.
I have three total calls
but nada are nuevo.
Except for the lonely word,

"nuevo,"

I'm still completely Englais.
Therein lies mi problemo.
I take multiculturalism
too literally.

In my dream, el telefono rings.
This time, todo de words esta Espanol,
because it is my non-existent Latin lover,
but anything's possible in dreams,
so callate tu boca and gowiththeflow, okay?

Mi guapo Spanish lover cantas,
"Bien que si so sexy, sexy como tu,"
which I'm relieved to hear because
in my last dream, he sang,
"La Gallina! Cloc cloc cloc cloc!"

But I digress! So he says to me,
"Mi amore, vaya con mi a mi casa
en la playa.  Wear your Ban de Soleil!"
I open one eye in consternation.
"We'll salsa dance under the stars, and
I'll Tostito you with champagne!"

A not-so-perfect fantasy,
but it kinda works for me.

Other girls get Fabio and strawberries,
poetry, French wine and a wheel of Brie,
but my phone only speaks
in mixed-tongue Spanish,
and my lovers find it difficult to
pick a team and stick with it.

My phone rings once more
as my English mum interrupts my reverie,
reminds me to buy more milk and fruit today.
"But I want salsa and deep tongue kisses,"
I protest as she laughs,
"Were you still sleeping?"

Damn, I need to fix that caller i.d.!
