 Should Not Feel This Lonely

A time remembered
Green meadows early morning
Shelter leveled to cover a gray light
dimmed with rain drops pouring

I searched for you
All this time I've been waiting
I think the sky is falling
Clouds convert my eyes
taking me above the sounds that drown out
trickling water from holes in the ceiling

I have a cup half empty
when you return it will have begun to overflow
Without you it seems colder somehow
Cold enough for the rain to turn to snow

I'm tired and I'm exhaling
my breath drawn out pushing past the shadows
of this darkened room
You know I put everything into this
Everything into you

It's late and I'm aggravated
blue sky gray still you haven't shown
I thought you felt more
the fool was I
thinking this was love
