Small Boy...
He looks at the world
through freshest blue eyes-
touching and tasting
and testing for size...
He tosses his football
and pushes his truck-
squeezes his cat
and bathes with his duck...
He sits in his seat
so safe and so high-
waves at the buses
and cars that pass by...
He bites bits of fruit
and gobbles his peas-
crunches his toast
and munches his cheese...
He rolls his big ball
and hugs his soft bear_
races his cars
and climbs up the stairs...
He stretches and reaches
and holds what he can-
without any fear-
without any plan...
Joy Weare.
