 "her path to integrity"

iii "the crystal"

one cold and leafless autumn day,
many years later,
as the Golden Dragon returned from
battle with the breath of the underworld,
and as he rounded the entrance to his wood,
he saw his habibi magnolia bloosom tree
extend her tender branches and
burst into a large white bloom.
the fragile, newborn blooms shivered
in the pale daylight as if
telling the Golden Dragon a secret.
he paused before the slender white tree and
smiled as he thought of the words
he use to say to his habibi when
he went into battle. he touched
the small, dark navy blue pouch
tucked to his left side and felt
the twinkling, heart shaped crystal
that she use to wear about her throat.
as the Golden Dragon touched
the shimmering crystal,
children from far and wide
began to enter his garden and wood.
sounds of laughter and good will
filled the Golden Dragon's golden ears.
the twinkling, heart shaped crystal
jumped from his side to his claw.
as it did, the slender white magnolia bloosom
extended one of her bloosomed branches
to the claw of the Golden Dragon and
slid her branch through the silver chain
of the now radiant crystal.

early that night as the sky began its darken,
before the Golden Dragon settled for a long rest,
the children carefully attached their clear
and coloured crystals about the branches of all
the trees in his garden and wood.
as the breathless, new moon began her rise,
she shone her divine light onto the garden and
wood of the Golden Dragon causing
all the crystals, coloured and clear, to twinkle
and sparkle as if the world had been inverted
but none sparkled more magnificently and beautifully
than the little, clear heart shaped crystal dangling
from the branch of the Golden Dragon's
white habibi magnolia bloosom.
