 Memories

MEMORIES

Standing under the glistening of the moonlight
Shining upon the water as it ruffles among the shore,
I start to feel a tear or two roll down my cheek for
I start to remember the precious memories of back when.

I remember when I was little and how me and my brother
Used to play all the time in the snow, in the heat of the day.
I remember how we were home alone without mama there,
Remembering all the good 'ol days and even the bad.

Daylight follows me ahead of time as the sun beats down
Upon my face. I begin to walk down the shore side and smile.
I remember how we used to go to town all the time to shop, to eat,
I remember so much about my past though some I don't want to remember.

I remember the broken hearts and the pieces I had to pick back up,
I remember how I cried for days wishing on a phone call that never came.
I remember the day I left home to be with the one I love with all my heart,
I remember the day I wish to be married, to have a job, and to have kids.

There is so much that I remember between then and now and just
To go back and think about it, tears my world apart sometimes.
I remember when my favorite dog died of a heat stroke and how
It shattered my dreams.

I'm just twenty-one years old and all I wish for is to be happy.
Precious memories of what was and what is yet to come,
Precious memories of life, love, laughter, joy, and so much more.
Memories....is what I have, memories is what will always be.
