During the flight of eternal sleep
He came to me last night
He held me in his loving gaze
As our souls embraced,
Such a depth of understanding
Etched upon his face.
I know he came to bring comfort
To me during this time of loss
He knows the sense of emptiness I feel
But somehow the chasm's opened more
Because it hurts so much to know
He's out there somewhere
Walking on some other shore
Across the vastness of the universe
He lives another life
But last night we connected in spirit
He came to let me know.
Once again all those feelings surfaced
The ones I thought were buried
And although I'm so pleased he came
I just wish I didn't have to face today
Because now my heart lies heavier
Knowing he's gone, so very far away
