Like a Bird
Like a Bird
Soaring high as an Eagle
Up into the eternal sky
I set my sights so high now
As I begin to fly.
From the depths, my soul has just emerged
It was close to the gates of hell
Where I found my inner strength?
Would be hard to tell.
But now I see the colours
The beauty of the world
My eyes no longer blinded
As my vision has been unfurled.
I can now feel laughter
Deep joy from within my soul
I am at one with nature
I escaped from a deep dark hole.
Deep, deep close to the Abyss
Has been my residency for years
Despair and fear surrounded me
As I was incapable of shedding tears.
Then came the day the light came
From the source that rescued me
As I began to ascend then
From my prison I was free.
This was not a miracle
Just something I couldn't see
The person who kept me in those chains
Was nobody else but me!
Allowing my soul to nearly die
Not seeing the strength within
Until the day I stopped to look
And realised I could begin.
To use this strength, my creator gave
When he created me
It is in every one of us
Should we choose to set it free!
Now as a bird, so high in flight
I can reach the stars in the navy sky
I can achieve whatever I wish
So can us all, if we but let ourselves fly
