Poetry For Everyday People

Stand In Line Take A Number Fill Out Fill Out

It eats you
up inside
just eats at you
the frustration
of being one
with integrity intact
yet you have
the legitimate
con artists
holding down jobs
they have no business
being anywhere near
and they use their power
to make lives harder
say things to you
knowing damn well
you can't go over
that desk
that counter
and eat their nose

you're just trying
to get by
doing what you have to
you filled out
the paper work
three times each time
they needed more
you stand in line
get treated with disrespect
as you stand there
you're time wasted
and of course
you're time means nothing
to them
all of them

and I know
you know
who them are

their everyday
obstacle people
they get in other
peoples way
they take every
bad moment
they ever had
out on others
slow them down
be rude as possible
make an easy process
difficult
painful
without an ounce
of civility nor
professionalism

you're simply
treated with hate
as you stand for six
seven eight hours
not enough time
in the day to get to you
come back tomorrow
the earlier you get here
the better your number
in line
and you do it
you have to

and they will
treat you
as if hell is only
found them
in their government jobs
their holidays
their benefits
their vacations

keeping you with them
as long as possible
giving you every ounce
of bad vibes they could
dish out

and you stand their
take it
you have to

you're are their
only relief

and you stand their
take it
you have to.
