Poetry For Everyday People
Leave My Thoughts
Memories intrude
I smell
that smell
of a small locked room
tight claustrophobic
from a million years
I can't quiet grasp
the memory
the hunting
the unspoken
psychological
brutality
as we walk hard
pretending
leave my thoughts
the moments
so cruel
coming up
like vomit
in my head
as I curse
what I can't
not find
and I play
Mozart
light candles
sit in front
of these keys
pounding at every
pain
leave my thoughts
the time has past
I no longer trust
there for I can't
be stabbed
in the back
nor coned into
hell by a smile
or words that sound
like old sick smells
there is no safety
even in isolation
my friends
they will come for you
and you have to
be prepared
for the ugliness
some people
bring
be armed
with books
a cautious mind
resilience
and the light
of peace
remember:
they can't
penetrate
no more.
I smell
that smell
of a small locked room
tight claustrophobic
from a million years
I can't quiet grasp
the memory
the hunting
the unspoken
psychological
brutality
as we walk hard
pretending
leave my thoughts
the moments
so cruel
coming up
like vomit

of these keys
pounding at every
pain
leave my thoughts
the time has past
I no longer trust
there for I can't
be stabbed
in the back
nor coned into
hell by a smile
or words that sound
like old sick smells
there is no safety
even in isolation
my friends
they will come for you
and you have to
be prepared
