 JANET'S PLANET

Yesterday's Memories

Photobucket

Standing on the back porch
so many decisions to make
passing the flaming torch
not sure which road to take

Torch that signals childhood ends
a chapter closes in your mind
wave good-by to old friends
memories leaving behind

Time to move on
innocent naive girl
find out where you belong
travel around the world

Pack leave home
venture far away
discover places roam
promising to some day

Return back home
lived another life
made it on your own
years filled with strife

Everything has changed
stories told sad folk songs
it was only yesterday all seems strange
feeling like you don't belong

Spent life in another place
left home taking a stand
struggled through the rat race
moving to the unknown felt so grand

Seeking what's there
trying to grab hold of yesterday
nothing to compare all has gone elsewhere
yesterday's memories left behind gone today
