As I lay alone in my bed at night,
I sometimes look up at the ceiling and stare,
Not really caring if it's wrong or right,
I only know you are not there.
I reach out toward where you would lay,
Imagining how it would be,
To have you beside me to end my day,
Then I let my mind run free.
I can see you curled up next to me,
Your head in the crook of my arm,
I look at you and cannot believe,
You picked me to receive your charm.
I fold you in my arms so tight,
I turn so we are face to face,
I look in your eyes so bright,
And hold you in my embrace.
I close my eyes and say a prayer,
To whatever sent you my way,
I kiss your cheek and watch you sleep,
Hoping that you will stay.
All this is only in my mind you see,
Hoping the day will come,
When all this will come to be,
The day I will no longer be alone.
