Together
She walks in beauty like the night,
Or so the poem goes,
But no night has been so fair and right,
So I must write this prose.
She walks where no one else will tread,
She goes hither and yon,
She comes to me in my bed,
Our arms enfold, our lips meet, we are one.
She has everything in the palm of her hand,
But I show no fear,
I know that in her hands my heart is safe,
No harm could come near.
Her touch so gentle as we lay,
Spent together, her head on my chest,
She listens to my heart beat race,
For together we are the best.
I know that from somewhere in time,
The end is drawing near,
But why think about what may come,
When, for now, she is here.
