Alzheimer's...

Nancy, And Her Twilight World.

She lost her mind to Alzheimer's,
So sad to see her this way,
And all around who love her,
Live with the pain of that each day.

Not knowing the loved ones she bore,
She lives in a fantasy life,
Living in a dream world,
Forgetting she was a wife.

Wandering about every day,
Not knowing reality at all,
Just a woman, pottering about,
So sad, so frail and small!

When her mind becomes lucid,
So heartbreaking it is to see,
Tears fall like raindrops,
As she asks; 'why is it happening to me?'

Then fantasy settles once more,
And she retreats into her mind,
Living out her younger years,
While sadness is all we find.

To watch her progress backwards,
Is so heartbreaking for us all,
For she who has Alzheimer's,
The woman now frail and small.

Tears fall like rain...
Down the faces of all she held dear,
The very ones she has forgotten,
Because her mind's no longer clear.

Alzheimer's, what a disease,
What a dreadfully cruel fate,
Nothing that can be done,
And now it's much too late!

Such a lovely lady,
And such a lovely friend...
No more cups of tea with her,
No more stories to befriend.

Now she wonders through her life,
Oblivious to all is how she'll be...
It's just so hard for we who look on,
Even though now, for her she's happy.

So though it's a dreadfully cruel fate,
And hard for all to bear,
At least she is happy,
And no longer lives in fear...

She Who Has...Alzheimer's.
