Conversations with Shehe

Unborn

I was walking across campus when the seed of my child was born into the world…
And the business of life swept me up
And I could hear the death cries
Of my child
Being swept back into the sea of the muse
And now the black tears
Roll down my cheeks
Like the blood of
The child that
Never came to full term…
My sorrow is no less
My child will never live
Nor cause joy on your face
Nor revelation from hearing
Its cries…
And I have no one to blame
The death is mine
My fault…
Forgive me muse
I have failed you…
You entrusted me
With life
And I swear
With every breath I take
Never to betray
Your trust
Again…

Forgive me
Beloved world
Friends
Lovers
Who will never know
My child's joy…

I never want to feel
This way
Again…
