 The Memories I Keep

Unwanted Love (Warning very sad!)

I rest here in my mommy's womb,
a home I'm pleased I found.
Unaware of a coming doom,
I'm sleeping safe and sound.

Mommy has been gloomy of late,
she always seems to cry.
She talks about a pending date,
when she must say goodbye.

I am not sure I understand;
don't like it when she's sad.
I hope to one day hold her hand,
and meet this man called Dad.

They seem like good people and all,
but not sure why they fight.
And Mommy will no longer call,
she's praying Daddy might.

I hope I can make things better;
I want to bring much joy.
Daddy will regret he left her,
knowing that I'm a boy.

They had to go to court today,
for something called divorce.
Both had very little to say,
nor did they show remorse.

Mommy still sobs into the night,
wishing that Daddy knew.
She often says that, "life's not right,
there's one thing left to do."

I sensed them talking about me,
I heard the doctor's voice,
"Still want to abort the baby?"
She said, "It is my choice."

I'll never know my mommy's love,
my tiny heart is torn.
If only she'd trust God above,
so I could still be born.

I'm growing tired, short of breath;
please stop the hurt I pray.
I feel the dreadful sting of death,
as my life fades away.
