The Flag
It stands alone in the midst of the courtyard,
it's broad stripes and bright stars waving
in the sultry summer breeze.
Everything that it stands for is brought to mind,
as the old song is proudly played
at the rising of the sun.
Hearts leap with patriotism and minds are filled
with the glory of what it stands for.
Men young and old raise their hands in salute,
to the glorious symbol of a mighty nation.
For this is the wonderful flag
of the United States of America.
