How They Often Let Us KnowThose we love and have since gone Always watch I feel it's so~ And when we seem to be in strife Often they let us know~ That they are not that far away I've had myself proof of this in past~ And usually often it's the same for all Their love forever it will last~ Little signs they leave around But we often just do not know~ That they are often by our side Long after they the time they go~ I've known who it was and that's for sure In our home walking into a room~ And out of the blue and it is true Smelling strongly my mothers own perfume~ Once down the back dads bike in old shed That was missing more than one spoke~ And as I walked in to get something there It was filled with his own tobacco smoke~ Once I remember over time same thing I placed my car keys on the table there~ Shortly to return to get them again And could not find them anywhere~ I came home one day and parked my car Next to the shed I know I did for sure~ And later it was moved to another place Sitting there beside the garden door~ I have in the past put a garden fork In a place I always leave where I can find~ And going back shortly to get it it's gone And no I am not nor never was losing my mind~ I get cold shivers sometimes in the warmest room That seem to then pass simply right through~ And others sitting next to me as well Often they have felt the same thing too~ I have been told by visitors at my home They saw an old man down near the shed~ They explained the person and it was my Dad And he had been simply years then dead~ He told me once if I had any strife in life To ask him and the answers they would come~ I've done this often and most of the time The problem soon after it was won~ Many ways they let you know You will only know for sure~ When you recognize a smell or the likes From those that you ever so adore~ Terrence Michael Sutton Copyright 2008 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
