The New Commandment
I'm not giving a new command,
Rather exactly where I stand;
The same as you were first given,
That my poems have been driven.
It is the message that you heard,
Many times through the Holy Word;
A commandment that's built on love,
Which starts flowing from God above.
You know what I am telling you,
Every word remaining true;
You can see darkness fade away,
The true light shines brighter than day.
If claiming to be in the light,
To hate anyone is not right;
Even if making a snide remark,
Then we are living in the dark.
Our foolish pride and desires,
Are keeping lit the dark fires;
And pushing us away farther,
From our Heavenly Father.
