My Life In Words

The Cleaning Man's Poem

"Clean up on aisle 4"
Like I haven't heard that before,
"Did you get the lobby done?"
Lady I got that before the rising sun,
I follow you around all day
waiting for that spill,
Sometimes I wish you would clean your own mess,
but it's no big deal,
I might Be at the bottom of the totem pole,
But if it wasn't for me, you'd be cleaning your own messes
Instead of being so bold.
So, whenever you see a Janitor, a floor technician, or a maid
Remember, we are an important part of this working world and our job will never fade,
When you see me swinging that mop from side to side,
or see me pushing a buffer, "get on, I'll give ya a ride"
Instead I would appreciate, in my day of back breaking work without fail,
Just throw me a wink and a little smile,
Go ahead and say something to me, and maybe stop and talk to me
a while..

I promise I won't get you dirty, cause cleaning is my fame,
and if your lucky I may just remember your name.

Sometimes this job gets to stinkin'
I might be spendin too much time thinkin'
Darn it, I put too much wax on the floor!
That old lady just slid out the door,
A spill, a mess, a floor need cleanin'
vacuum, sweepin a carpet needs steamin'
I'll get it done
before the sitting of the sun.
