Take my hand step back with me to better times
When we were all young and in our primes
To the past where life seemed so easy
Of sunny days and nights so breezy
The corner store where cold cokes could be found
Jukeboxes playing our favorite sounds
Penny loafers and tight pegged pants
Watching to see if the girls give you a glance
A Chevy v-eight with colors two tone
And no one driving around with a cell phone
Gas a gallon for twenty five cents
Everyone was cool no one tense
High school football was played with pride
It was still safe to hitchhike a ride
Leather jackets spit curls and duck tails were bad
Saddle shoes poodle skirts and bobby socks were the fad
Remember when putt putt golf came along
And the platters sang great love songs
What a thrill just to hold hands
Listening to your favorite band
The first A and W Root Beer in your town
Where everyone stopped while cruising around
Kids were safe at school none carried guns
We were just too busy having clean fun
I miss the days of my youth so long ago
Watching Larry Curly and Moe
Laughing with Dean and Jerry
And that great coke with a hint of cherry
What a shame those days have faded away
Life would be much easier if they would have stayed
But alas they are no more then dreams and thoughts of the past
Things changed and we all have had to travel with time so fast
