The Trip
She sits by the window and waits,
Coffee cup in her delicate hand,
Doing what her heart dictates,
Waiting for her man.
Her heart fills with joy,
With just the thought of him,
Her memories she does employ,
Filling her to the brim.
For he has gone away,
On a business trip,
And she has many a day,
To savor her life with each sip.
At the same moment in time,
Somewhere far away,
He sits in the plane as it climbs,
Toward a brand new day.
He looks out the window into space,
The clouds are floating by,
But he only sees her face,
And does not see the sky.
He relives the moment they parted,
Where hugs and kisses abound,
He knew then they had started,
Something that was so profound.
When this trip was over,
Somewhere down the road,
He would be back with his love,
So onward toward tomorrow he rode.
