The Paradise Lost

I didn't come to sop up old tears with the bread of hope
or drink the wine of distance dreams,
That past paradise is so far away it seems
I seek not that heaven in my mind,
  The pursuit of happiness...
the cruelest of all teasers in this life time
If I have let Beauty slip through my hands...
it does me no good to dream about the paradise lost
Though I long to play the violin with the
         strings of the wind...
reality doesn't grant us mere mortals such blessings
     and the past won't bend
