THE BOY

The bright sun beat down
on the hot desert ground.
The boy drew a line in the sand,
and thought "one day I'll be the man!"
The girl came around to soon,
shinning with the light of the moon.
She stole his young heart,
and ripped his world apart.
Now the boy is a beaten and broken man,
who no longer plays in the California sand.
He now lives several lifetimes away,
and misses his childhood every day.
This man gets a second chance you see,
but even that love wasn't meant to be.
Now he lives in a city that's not his home,
even with all these people he still feels alone.
The sun will shine again he knows,
for you see, that's how this life goes.
You can't give up, keep building on all of your dreams,
that's what keeps this life together at the seams.
So now I put ink on paper to write these things,
and keep pushing on to see what tomorrow brings.
I won't break, though I may bend,
but I know it'll be worth it in the end.
