CHANCELLORSVILLE

To Chancellorsville they came by the hundreds
Deafened by mighty cannons thunders

Young and old thrown into the bloody fight
Both Armies believing their side was right

The Blues seen as Dixie Invaders
The Grays called Rebels and Traitors

Families split by loyalties to their hearts
None wanting to die just to do their part

Stonewall held the Orange Plank road
While down Furnace Pike Anderson's men rode

Federal troops dug in at Mineral Springs
With General Segwick on the left wing

General Gordon of the South viewed it all
As the Old Turnpike was cut by General Mclaw

Stars and Bars  Stars and Stripes
Flying high trying to show their mights

Fallen dead and wounded all around
Moans of pain drown by rifle sounds

Some with life some with limb
Littering the battle fields so grim

Oh what a price was paid by all
War that caused some many brave men to fall

The fierce battle raged for days
Men cried died and prayed

Through smoke and shot army's moved
Commanders on both sides stewed

The end to the terrible fight they seek
Scenes of the dead and dying not for the weak

Generals struggled to win the day
But in the end the common soldier paid
