Petals In The Grass

Purple Heart

A POW
In my youth
Both my caretakers were
My John Wilkes Booth

In the wars of good and evil
Evil usually won
No matter how I tried
I was still their son

I had no uniform
I had no rank
Thrown on the frontlines
After the Dr. did spank

Not Airforce, Army, Navy
Or Corps
But I was just another
Causality of war

Injured in my battle
Wounded from the start
Where in the hell is
My purple heart?
