Poetry For Everyday People

Us Freaks On The Corner

I've always been friends
with that girl,
tattoos, piercings,
boots half her size,
but she wears them hot,
poetry in a paper bag,
a guitar on her back,
eyes that melt moments,
broken heart, tough,

and the guy,
so dark, bottled-up,
he can't even talk anymore,
won't tell you why,
but his music is true,
and even though
we know nothing
about him,
we trust him,
there's something
there,

walking in the rain,

hugging each other,
through this mess.
