 Broken Pieces

Broken Pieces
A certain man sat at the top of his game
So proud of the fact that he made himself a name
Everything he touched seemed to turn into gold
And every investment return to him a hundred fold
Convinced that success was all he'd ever see
He thought “ every person should be like me”
I started with nothing, twenty cent short of a dime
But I made my self a plan and I gave it some time
I didn't take no for an answer, and I stayed committed
All by myself I worked hard until I did it
Fifteen-hundred dollar suits, alligator shoes
So many cars I don't which one to cruise
It's all self made he said to himself
I didn't depend on anyone else
One night he bowed and began to pray
Lord you should have made everyone this way
I know that you are proud of me
Look at what I have come to be
As he arose and began to scurry about
He glanced in the mirror on his way out
And much to his dismay and also surprise
He saw himself as looking through Gods eyes
There were two sides, like a before and after
In one side whole and the other side shattered
Then he heard a voice soft as a whispering wind
It said which one is you now, which one is you then
Before you start to choose one of these
Remember to view it the way God sees
The outside may be cuff links and creases
But the inside is still just broken pieces

Stay Humble
