She should have been an actress, shared her talent with the world
Oh the grandeur of the mighty epitaphs that she could have hurled
She would have lit up Broadway, her brilliance never to be eclipsed
She should have been an actress, what the world has sadly missed
The whole wide world is but a stage it is said and I believe its so
Just think of all the many unheralded thespians that you really know
She should have been an actress; there is drama in every word she speaks
So maybe in her next life she'll get the much deserved applause she seeks
Written for my friend, Karen,
whose life has been one long drama.
--
I shall dance the music that life
plays for me, of sunshine and
shadows waiting to be free.
Greeting the splendor when the
storm is past,
embracing the rapture as I
breathe my last.
