High on a mountain top far above the sea
Runs a black stallion, wanting to be free,
Swiftly as wind, to meadows he descends
Hurrying animals to scurry, as if to defend.

Running wild and free was his only delight
Until a young mare came into his sight,
With golden mane glowing in bright sunlight.
Tail held high, not afraid of his flight,

~*~
Slowing him to a stand still, did she
In this lovely green meadow, as he
Roams in circles, prancing with glee,
No longer wanting to run free.

If on a mountain top, you should see
A young colt wildly running free,
You will know at a glance, that he
Will someday no longer run free.
